This is the fifth lesson out of a full online belly dance course from BellyDanceBoulevard.com. Watch and practice at the comfort of your home, by yourself or with a friend.
In this video we learn how to do the magical vertical figure eight movement (sometimes called “maya”), and also how to walk with it. I want to remind you to start with the basic posture as was taught in the first lesson, and also that learning to belly dance over the internet does not constitute an alternative for taking classes with a teacher.
The song in this lesson is “ya kelbi” from the CD “Deb” by the great singer, songwriter and guitarist Suad Massi.

The concept for this choreography was “Ukrainian Gypsy” with a twist. The “Cutting” (if you recognize it) is typical for Turkish Gypsy dances. The Shawl choreography that made it into the video is Spanish Flamenco. This run through was just for memory purposes.
